this is something best done with a helper or two. My guess is that loosening the rear 4 bolts and having two helpers shift the hood into proper position, then retighten while they hold it still.

REAR 4 bolts? There are only 4 bolts holding the hood on...total. Maybe if the rear 2 bolts are loosened and a helper tries to raise the hood, this will allow the rear edge of the hood to move closer to the hinge, which equates to it sitting lower when at rest.

Until you rebuild the hinges, try spraying the hinges really good with penetrating oil. I mean really hose it down and work the hood up and down to get any grit out of the hinges. Helped out on mine big time. Mine opens and closes like butter now and the hinges don't bow nearly as much.
