Anybody have a source for 62~65 small block motor mounts. Obviously the original would be for a poly 318, but I know they are the same as an LA.

I'm not looking for the rubber parts, just the portion that bolts on to the block itself.

I know that schumacher has them, but they are fairly expensive. Just looking for stock ones so I can make my own solid motor mounts.

Anybody got one laying around, or know where to get them? Any moparts sponsors that would have a part like this?

I think the 1962 B body V8 mounts, engine and K memebers, are different than the 1963,64 and 1965 B bodys

Thanks for the replies guys.

CAB you are correct. The '62 is slightly different, but I should have specified this was a /6 '62 car, so I snagged a poly 318 k-frame out of a '65 coronet...

No I need a set just for the steel stamping parts. I have a set of rubber mounts that I can make the solid portion out of. It's just the side that bolts to the block that I'm missing.

Well it is, but I don't love it. I got some mounts out of a '65 coronet that had a 318 LA motor in it. The thing is, it only catches two of the motor mounts on each side. Trans mount lines up so I know its in the right spot, but I wouldn't want to run the motor like that in the car.

You about ready to get that welder fired up?

Local racers(and partners) Ray Christian and Shelby Starkey used to machine their max wedge/HEMI engine mounts out of aluminum(among other things). That was 40 years ago..
Good to know there are still a lot of thinkers out there.

and guess who came up with aluminum tranny drums? I'll give you one guess.

By the way are you saying that the 318 poly mount WON'T work on an LA 62~65 b-body, or that they will but they are a little different.

the picture shows the 318 poly mounts from a 62-65 b-body, they will work on a LA 318 but not all of the mount ears on the mounts line up exactly with the LA 318 block ears. you can bolt up the ones that do and weld in a piece or two to hook up with the block ears.

Oh... very interesting. So here I thought I had the wrong mounts holding the motor in right now, but maybe they are correct.

I thought they were wrong because I could only get 2 bolts in per side (instead of 3).

But you're saying that's normal when using a 318 poly mount on a 318 LA? I thought they were exactly the same?

EDIT... now that I'm looking at it... I understand. The poly 318 has the two bolts on the REAR of the mount on a the passenger side, while the LA 318 has the two bolts on the FRONT...
