Ok I have been having issues with my 225.I could not keep the engine running,so I started my quest of replacing part after part to find a cure. What it does exactly is it does not like to stay running, and when put into gear it shuts off. I have replaced the carb ( new, not used), battery, starter,upper/lower manifold gaskets, spark plugs, points and condenser, the list goes on. Well after replacing the points today at .020 and it no longer fires. I turned the rotor a bit to check the gap, but nothing horribly far. Before it at least fired but needed help staying running with giving it gas. Now, it does turn over and tries to start but fails. Any ideas guys? I really really need some pointers here. Oh by the way, does anyone have a picture of a correct carb set up on a slant six? I am 19 and a novice and do not know if I have it hooked up correctly, which could be my problem too.
