This winter I have been reading old mopar mags and wondering how people have such fast cars.

These are near stock 340's, 318's and mild 440's running consistently in the 12's in the quarter.

The last time I raced was with my mild 440 and my best time was a 15.4 @ 94mph. Embarassing.

Anyway, since then I have put a 383 in my car and haven't made it to the track.

Here is the currently combo
1971 roadrunner

-383 with 9.1:1 compression

-comp XE262H 462/470 lift 262/270 duration cam

-mild pocket port 452 heads with stock "smaller" valves.

-Mopar M1 dual plane intake

-Edelbrock 750 cfm carb with K&N filter, open 6pak scoop hood.

-Headman headers, 2-1/2 dual exhaust with X pipe.

-FBO electronic ignition, mechanical advance

-automatic trans, 2400-ish stall converter

-Sure grip rear end with 3:55 gears

Our elevation here in utah is approx 4500 feet above sea level, and the car runs awesome on the street. Definately not a king of street, but reliable and runs strong.

I have yet to run this combo at the track, but I have seen "stock" 383's run low 13's in the quarter.

Is there any reason why this combo I have should not dip into the 13's?

Anyway, for a cold day here in Utah this is all I have to do at the moment, so what are your thoughts?

Oh, the dream (if finances permits) would be a keisler 5 speed behind this setup, which would really wake it up!

anyway, thanks for reading, what are your thoughts?
