Correct the VON is stamped on the body but the VIN is definitly stamped on the top of engine by the bellhousing in later 68 cars. My old 68 Charger R/T 440 was stamped there, kind of more to the drivers side around 1 or 2 oclock.


What do you mean by later? My Dec. R.R. engine and auto trans were stamped, my Feb R.R. parts car engine and auto trans were stamped and my May R.R. engine and man. trans were stamped.
All of these cars are St Louis by the way
