Im definately not one of the experts but I'd say go for it if you like the car. If you spend 3k on the car, then spend 4k on metal work (I just threw that # out there) then you're into the car for 7k so far, and you KNOW what condition everything is in. Then you have to factor in paint, engine cost, etc... Pretty good IMHO if its a car that you plan to keep and drive the wheels off. Now if you're looking to have a goldmine to sell later, not so much. Plus I think theres more satisfaction to seeing your car come together than there is to just buy something thats already done.
