Main reason it was difficult:
the fuel pump module where the connect snaps on is 3/8, but the plastic line that connects to the quick connect is 5/16.
So OF COURSE a 5/16 quick connect wouldn't fit. How the hell is anyone supposed to guess they used two different sizes on the same fitting.
This is one of those moments a person might take a step back and question Chrysler Engineering's Infinite Wisdom
(in between swear words).
I drove an '03 Dak for many years until my neighbor crashed into it. There are a TON of emissions and vacuum hoses on that truck that are the same way--different sizes on each end of the hose.
I was getting a bunch of CEL codes for evap leaks. When I went to replace all the cracked hoses under the cab I realized standard hose from the parts store wouldn't work because it was either too large or too small at one end.
