It might be such a thing the Vette driver had a medical issue, like a sudden fatal heart attack (its been happening a lot lately). He may have been dead before the car accelerated and changed lanes. If his body was as messed up as most of us would expect after a crash like that, they may never be able to tell, even if they looked past the obvious and into the real reason he died.


The driver was 36 years old so a medical issue is rather unlikely. An Autopsy would have been performed because it was a violent death and the authorities would want to know if alcohol, drugs, or medical issues played a role. And today's MEs are very good at what they do, even under difficult circumstances.
