10w30 has no place in an old worn engine unless you can confirm the oilpressure is still good.
20w50 oil should have been put in it a long time ago.

Since you have the pan of anyway, now is the time to change the bearings, as long as the journals don't have deep grooves in them.
A timing kit and a HV-oilpump will bring many more years in an engine.
