Taking a close look that the trans pad. I see that the assembly date is 2461 which is 4-23-68. The vehicle's SPD is 4-18-68 Does this maybe make you question if is the original transmission?
That probably just proves Barry's point that the SPD is just a suggestion.
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.
