Been there done it with a street car. Went from 750 hp wedge to 1000 hp high compression hemi in my street strip car. For drag racing do the high compression. My car with 1000 hp was not fun on the street. Would blow the tires off in any gear. Was in the limiter before he pedal was half way down. Raced a 12 second car on the street and almost got beat because all I did was spin. Took that motor down to pump gas and small cam. 605 cu inch. 850 hp with pump gas. Car is a blast to drive now on the street. I don’t fear race gas and compression on the street. I just think when u get over 800 on the street the fun factor goes away.
