80% of the cars I have raced myself, or driven for others, have been small tire cars. I have yet to come close to putting one of the roof and have had two minor incidents in 36 years of racing. Flattened the right side of the GTX against the wall at Huntsville in the 90s when it went on the chute mount and went right. Knocked the front off a blown alky Pro-Mod when it broke a wheelie bar. Most small tire crashes, or any for that matter, are caused by overdriving and failure to lift when you should. Has nothing to do with the size of the rear tire, or amount of power.
