I'm guessing I need to remove my bumper to raise the front of the car?

No. I plan on doing the install on my '72 RR the same way.

Place the rear jack stands at the front spring hanger brackets (shown below). Remove the rear wheels so you can hinge the car up sufficiently without putting weight on the rear axle. Place a couple hundred pounds on the trunk (I used a couple of those 68 pound cement blocks from Home Depot for building garden walls - wrapped in plastic bags, placed in the trunk on carpet scraps.)

Even with the front bumper on, hood on, and interior (including seats) in, I can lift the front of the car by hand at the front bumper. The plan is to have a buddy come over to lift the car up while I roll the k-frame/engine/trans on the dolly underneath the car.

A pic of the placement of the rear jack stands.
