I have had some no name converters that were over achievers in 60 ft and under achievers down track. When it was tightened it up with a good converter, slowed down the 60 ft and the car was quicker in the rest of the run. I'll bet loose 8" and lot of gear? I missed the fact that the converter came from Lenny. That changes my idea completely. In this case That area would be well taken care of.
