This will be a first for me; I've only ever messed with AT. I have this 56 Plymouth with a 383 & push button on the dash/cable shifted 727 trans. The trans is acting up & I'm ready to pull a big block 4 speed from behind a 400 in a 67 Barracuda I have and try gear jammin in the older beast. I can take everything from the A-Body; pedals, shifter, etc. So, the trans & engine will go together without problem. What else do I need to finish the install? Is there anything specific to the 56 I need to convert from auto to manual?

unless you go to some sort of hydrulic clutch set up you are going to need a Z bar and all the linkage from the pedal to the Z bar and from the Z bar to the throw out bearing fork,,all of it need to be the correct lengths or it either wont reach or function properly,, do soem research on any of the mopar forums on hydrulic clutch systems adn see what people have either adapated or built,,,unless u have a 56 laying around that was a stick shift car,,,
