It can still be a good little driver that sounds cool... to some thats all you need in a car. A 273 in a B-body will never be fast... not without a ridiculous effort and outlay anyways. Keep in mind the 273 is almost 100cid smaller than the 360.

Quick fun? Headers, 2.5" dual exhaust, pick your favorite sounding mufflers. Aluminum dual-plane 4bbl intake, carb, open-element air cleaner. Electronic ignition maybe? for a bit better driver, though it wont make you any faster. Tune it very well, recurve the distributor, etc. Pull the AC compressor off if it has one. Lose any weight in the car you dont need.

Spending a bit more money? Find a Magnum 5.2 or 5.9L top-end... heads, all that goes with, and buy an RPM intake. This will be an improvement that you can actually feel, and make it more efficient too. Gears for the rear... what you have is probably a bit long. A cam will help wake that lil' thing up too, especially with the heads if you go that route.

Even more money? swap in a 340 or 360, or better yet, a 360 Magnum or big block. This really is the first real step up to any real speed and doesn't have to cost all that much.
