I bought this 273 four barrel 235 hp 66 Dart in 1974. I rebuilt the 273 and added a bigger solid cam. I think it had the original AFB on it that I used and I think I used an Eddy 318 dual plane intake. I added JR fenderwell headers. It was a four speed and I put a drum to drum rear in it from a 68 Dart 340 car. Had 3.91's and ran high 14's. But when I wanted to get serious I was going to notch the cyl and add 340 heads. I ended up dropping a 340 in it with 4.56's and it ran a best of 11.90's until I rolled it in 1982. It just seemed everytime I really wanted to step up some I kept going to 340 or 360 parts so thats why I just put a 340 in it. I would say the headers and 318 Eddy intake helped my 10.5 to 1 comp 235hp 273 some for a few simple bolt ons. It just seemed everytime I wanted to try and make some real hp I kept hearing about adding 340 parts so thats why I finally put one in it. You have to do some serious head work to really start getting some power out of the 273. Good luck which ever way you go. Ron

That was one nice car!

Thank you. Ron
