Everything from the flexplate or flywheel back is "driven" However , we don't use the term in its correct meaning . we could say the tranny is driven by the crankshaft the "driveshaft is driven by the tranny the diff is driven by the driveshaft but it would just complicate things more for the newer crowd that is just learning the mechanics of our automobiles.
