Yesterday while driving home my truck (79 W150) sputtered and died, and would not fire back up. Being 2 blocks from the house I strapped it to my friends car and pulled it to the house.

Fuel is coming out of the carburetor just fine, but I am getting no spark. I have replace the cap and rotor, and swapped to a different coil to no avail. I have 12v on the + side of the coil, 12v on the end of the coil plug wire. Pulled the distributor, and everything seems fine with it.

Could the ignition module cause this issue? Is there anything else I can test with the voltmeter to determine what needs replaced?

Is there a way to check it without buying a new one?

I only ask because I don't really have transport to the parts store...

You can check your pickup coil in the dizzy. Unplug the wire and set your volt meter to the OHM's setting and see what you get, should be 150 to 450 range. Switch the meter over to AC volts and spin the distributor and you should see at least 1 volt AC.

I'm assuming 5 pin ECU and 4 terminal (dual ballast). Ohm both sides of the ballast or jump the 2 ends opposite of the blue looped wire end together & (re)try it. What Mopar Country said for the dizzy and (learnt this yesterday on here) w it still unplugged turn key on & touch the male end on the harness half to ground & see if that triggers the coil center secondary wire held 1/4" from ground to spark, if not sounds like the Module if the ballast is fine but do check it's ground & wiggle/check/clean the connectors 1st. It died on the ign1 (run) circuit so stay on that side w your checks
