I have ditched my mech. fuel pump and stepping up my engine program, this year I want to also remount my alternator. I was at Mancini racing Tuesday and looked at the DMI unit and decided it was not the best scenario for me, using the cnc'd motor plate that Mancini offers looks like there will be interference with the top mounting hole. I was expecting a different mount but thats what they carry, can someone post a pic of alternetive low mount alternator brackets, thanks in advance

I have a Moroso generic adjustment arm similar to the one in your pic, but I have mine mounted on the drivers side on the top of the plate. Ill have to look at my plate to see if I have the material to mount my bracket down there. Does anyone have a pic of the low mount made by magnum hp or someone else on the board, I thought I remember it on Andyf,s cnc plate wich is the same plate that I have.

Mancini has an alternator kit that hangs on the CNC motor plate. Part number is AR207. It works with the Powermaster 8162 or 8172 alternator.

i just took mine and set it where it wanted to be and still lined up with a pulley .took some construction paper made a pattern, traced it out on some 1/2plate alum. and used the 2 lower timing chain cover bolts on passenger side. came out pretty good and will set bout 2 inches above k frame

Thanks for all the input guys I appreciate it, I have a few different ways to go. I like the cleanliness in the pic that andyf posted, doesnt get much easier than that if you have the room, that was a great link that was added to the post as well. I will post what I come up with later this week, thanks again

Andy, you're too modest

Andy, I called Mancini thursday and they said they don't have that kit. Has to be drop shipped from the factory. So I ordered it from PSO. Hope its here next week.

Andy-

Is the AR207 setup for a specific dampner/pulley configuration or is there some depth adjustment? I'm wondering if there is an issue with mounting a crank trigger wheel behind the pulley and then not having the alternator line up. Looks like the top bracket could be spaced out simply but the bottom one is not so obvious. Maybe you have a picture of the kind of setup I'm talking about?

Scott

It is designed for a specific combination of parts. Depth can be adjusted by the use of spacers, but there aren't any extra spacers in the kit. It works with the parts that are in the picture.

I originall designed a "universal" low mount kit but it cost too much to mfg. So I gave up on that approach and went with a combination of parts that a lot of racers are using. ATI damper + MSD crank trigger + DMI pulley.
