I am having trouble finding any kind of performance torque converter for my 904.. what gives? B&M and TCI and everyone else doesn't have a mild street converter? Any ideas on where to get one similar to B&M's Torque Master with around a 2,000 stall?

TuboAction comes to mind

I've been looking and without finding a $300+ race one, I can't seem to locate one. I just want a higher stall speed like the Torque Master...

I just looked at the Turbo Action one, and it's a bit out of my budget... but they did have one. Thanks!

If you want a "mild" street converter why not go with a factory hi-stall from a rebuilder?

Autozones supplier sells one at 1800-2000 for around $130. if you look up the application thru autozones website, then it will give you a phone# to call for verification. just don't mention autozone or they won't sell direct to you.

A good converter will give you a greater performance increase than just about any other part you can buy short of a blower or nitrous. 2000 stall is just barely more than a stock 318 converter. Throw in a good tight 10 in 3000 stall and let 'er rip.

I'm not very well versed in stuff like that, but will a 10" with a 3,000 be okay for daily driver usage? I also pull the occasional trailer. My cam makes power from like 2500 to 5500... but it's not a radical 360.. just 30 over and headers and some valve and mild head work and an Offy intake with a Holley 650...

Loose converters and trailer towing are not recommended, maybe it's a very light trailer and you have a huge cooler?. Call 256-383-6868 and give all the details to Kenny or Lane.

I called them and left my name with the lady, and also sent an email with all of my info and haven't heard back...

Their website seemed nice enough, and they had decent prices on their mild converters... but I'm not sure which one would be right for my car.

Odd coincidence, I have been on the phone for the last 1/2 hour calling around. I am going to call PTC as soon as everyone gets back from lunch. I just got off the phone with a local shop and they can get me a factory high stall for 125.00. That might be in the ball park for what we both need. I'll post info when I get it.

I usually drag my engineless VW around to work on it, I have pulled a U-haul trailer, but if the TC won't work with that, I'll just not tow anything heavy..

Call and talk to the guys at PTC, I just got off the phone with Lane, sounds to me like the place to get a converter. Price is better than some of the other places I have called.

Lane and Kenny are great guys and the best service that I have found. I sent them a 518 lock up converter a few weeks ago and they turned it around in 1 DAY! I have other PTC converters and all of them have worked well for me.

I have a 2500 RPM PTC converter. I love it. As far as your budget is concerned, if pay a little more you're only out the extra BUT, if you paty too little and it doesn't do the job you're out every dollar. I have screwed myself many times before I quit using price as the dtermining factor

Don't forget to replace the front seal while you're in there.
