904 Torque converter? - 02/09/11 10:18 PM
I am having trouble finding any kind of performance torque converter for my 904.. what gives? B&M and TCI and everyone else doesn't have a mild street converter? Any ideas on where to get one similar to B&M's Torque Master with around a 2,000 stall?

Just about any TQ builder makes them
TuboAction comes to mind

I've been looking and without finding a $300+ race one, I can't seem to locate one. I just want a higher stall speed like the Torque Master...
I just looked at the Turbo Action one, and it's a bit out of my budget... but they did have one. Thanks!

If you want a "mild" street converter why not go with a factory hi-stall from a rebuilder?

Call PTC and speak to Kenny or Lane. PTCrace.com

A good converter will give you a greater performance increase than just about any other part you can buy short of a blower or nitrous. 2000 stall is just barely more than a stock 318 converter. Throw in a good tight 10 in 3000 stall and let 'er rip.

Loose converters and trailer towing are not recommended, maybe it's a very light trailer and you have a huge cooler?. Call 256-383-6868 and give all the details to Kenny or Lane.

I called them and left my name with the lady, and also sent an email with all of my info and haven't heard back...
Their website seemed nice enough, and they had decent prices on their mild converters... but I'm not sure which one would be right for my car.

Odd coincidence, I have been on the phone for the last 1/2 hour calling around. I am going to call PTC as soon as everyone gets back from lunch. I just got off the phone with a local shop and they can get me a factory high stall for 125.00. That might be in the ball park for what we both need. I'll post info when I get it.

Lane and Kenny are great guys and the best service that I have found. I sent them a 518 lock up converter a few weeks ago and they turned it around in 1 DAY! I have other PTC converters and all of them have worked well for me.

I have a 2500 RPM PTC converter. I love it. As far as your budget is concerned, if pay a little more you're only out the extra BUT, if you paty too little and it doesn't do the job you're out every dollar. I have screwed myself many times before I quit using price as the dtermining factor

Of the trans? It's currently disassembled and getting new innards and a Transgo shift kit... I also ordered a new flex plate and ARP 12-point flex plate bolts.
