Hey Guys,

Have any of you guys had any luck with some of the milder "street" solid rollers and the Crane Iron rockers? Say something like the Lunati .600/.600 VooDoo or the Comp XR292R. Will the Crane iron rockers handle the spring pressure of a street roller? The Comp recomended spring has an open load of 456 pounds. Thanks!

That quite a bit of spring pressure. I have run them to about 350 lbs open with solid flat tappets. But your talking about 40% more pressure overall compared to a solid flat cam.

I have those two EXACT cams and am deciding which one to run in my 511 RB. (Thinking VooDoo! Got it off Ebay AFTER I had the XR292...) I have Stealth heads with Isky 9205 springs (aprox 190# seat and maybe 475# open), and I sent some original MaxWedge rockers to RAS and had them bronze bushed and fitted to my shafts. Well worth the investment for durability and simplicity! RB

What did this cost you?

I called them about doing this, the price was insane, could have bought real race rockers for less

I had the rockers, and I think it was priced per rocker, $7 back then (maybe a year)IIRC. Plus shipping to California of course. Nicely bushed with re-routed oiling and internally grooved. I would rather have these than budget full rollers or higher priced roller-tipped ones that would gall to the shafts under the pressure... RB

I was told to bush and blueprint a set of Crane Iron Rockers right around $1000

RAS web site is useless, I saw some posts about having this work do, so I called for pricing

I have a set of iskys that were done 10-12 years ago with super thick shafts spacers and hold downs. Back then it was $450 or so. My set has been street driven and raced on several cars and are still like new. Mine were also changed to 1.6 when they were done. It was a lot of money but for long term service I think they will be hard to beat.

Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

I provided my own Crane shafts and Crower adjusters, so I guess I could have bought some bushed PRW roller tips or maybe some Crane golds new for what I have in these, but not like Harland Sharps or anything like that. Prolly have less than $300 in the whole deal but I feel good about them for the street. I had two sets of Iskys done previously with RAS supplying the new adjusters, shafts and hold downs, and I think it was $400+ per setup, but NICE stuff with zero problems. RB

RAS will change the ratio, repalce the adjusters with good ones repair the tips and bush the rockers for less than you can buy a decent new one like the crane aluminum or comparable non bushed roller tip rockers I had them do several sets 5 or 6 years ago, call them for a exact quote. Quality is never cheap, you get what you pay for, if your lucky AND don't pi$$ of the owners

Some decent feedback here. Trying to weigh my options. I have a brand new set of the Crane Iron rockers and HD MP shafts. I'm thinking of stepping up my camshaft a bit for the rebuild I have in store..

Can't decide if I should bush them (RAS) or sell and buy HS....

I run the iron rockers and my old motor had mopar triple battleship springs and the crane R280 roller, .670 lift, .280 duration, never had any problems and i'm still using the same rockers and shafts.

Tom I sent a set of Isky iron rockers to RAS and got them bushed, trimmed, new hardware, new shafts, all for under $600.00 Granted I could have had the entire RAS rocker set-up for a few hundred more but I really like the Isky rockers
They fit and work perfectly

I wouldn`t ever consider bushing and correcting those pieces.........Buy(save to buy)at least the HS`s w/hardened shafts, spacers stud em and you`re good to go for many trouble free years. I`m going on 6+ years w/LOTS of street miles and a few hundred passes and all is well. I don`t skimp on my car......maybe that`s why it doesn`t break and has never let me down or left me stranded.

For the record I have seen more broken H.S. rockers than iron units

I have seen a few HS's broken. Still looking to see if the iron units break.

I broke 2 Cranes this year after many years of use. But they were "relieved" for spring clearance and I left a sharp cut instead of blending it.

I ran Harland Sharps on a W-2 360 for many years with no problems. A few tip rollers may have started to get worn. But the only ones I recall seeing broken were ones cut for spring clearance.

I really think the RAS 440 MAX rockers are the best rockers on the market second only to Jessel for strength and reliability
