Thanks for the update. It's nice to know a high-quality, bolt-in, super-tough, pistol-grip-shifted Passon 5-speed is getting closer and closer to being under my car.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

At this point, we are waiting on bearings. I am using this time wisely to get everything else in order. We are planning on starting production beginning in May. Thanks, Jamie
Jamie, If you are having problems getting bearings now, how will it be 20 years from now? Tim

I doubt the problem is Jamie can't get 1 bearings. Jamie more then likely is waiting for a 100 bearings to ship. Bearing supplier doesn't stock the bearings as they are made to order.

I had a set of 32 I tried to order for a project in 2004. They were not a very unusual size, about 4" diameter. Anyway, ended up 120 days back ordered and I could not get the supplier to even guarantee I would ever get them. Apparently the same bearing is used in a military application and the DOD was "pulling rank" and had first priority on all production. I ended up redesigning the assembly to use a slightly different bearing...
Last week I was looking to order 200 replacement sensors. Supplier informed me the entire US stock was 201. I ordered 98 for now, I'll order more later. It is not uncommon, especially these days to run into these issues. No one wants to carry inventory, everyone wants to run lean and no one wants to get stuck with product sitting on shelves. I continually run into situations where my vendors can not supply me in a timely manner. It hurts our business.

Let me nip this in the bud, before because there is already "incorrect assumptions" being made. We are staging production. Building 30 units at a time. This is the only way we can do it due to shortfalls from suppliers. We are notifying the people that are on the order list right now to either stay on and give a deposit, or drop out. This product has not been released yet. The reason being is because it is going to be several months until we can get all the orders filled. Last count was over 190 units. Once this happens, I will make the announcement that it is available. This seems like the most logical way to do this. We are planning for delivery of the first "lot" at the end of October. I see no sense in making an announcement that its available!!! and oh its gonna be 4 months till we can provide one for you. I am sure that not everyone is going to agree with the way we are doing this, but I have thought long and hard about how to do it and this seemed the most fair. As always, any questions, just ask. Thanks for your continued patience, but the wait is almost over! Jamie

I've been on the waiting list a long time now but it's awesome to hear that good things come to those who wait.
And, I'd like to remind those who think it's taking too long that he was sorta forced to announce this product prematurely. Start over in the thread if you don't know what I mean.

*Jamie, concerning replacment parts, bearings, gaskets, etc. Do you plan on carrying stock on them so that we can buy extras of wear items for future repairs at home or local to us customers? If so I'd be ibterested in a price and availability list so I can stock up.
Scott, Good question, Let me be clear to everyone. At this time, we do not plan to sell replacement parts. Nor are we authorizing any repairs to be done "at home" I think everyone knows us long enough that we are fair. Especially on our labor rates when you consider the market. We are the only authorized repair facility. I don't see this changing either. Thanks, Jamie

My only concern with that is that there is only one "Jamie Passon", and not that I'm being gloomy or anything but the reallity is that people get hurt, don't live forever, have financial problems, quit business, etc. Just looking at repair and maintainance options should they be needed further down the road. The other issue would be logistics, shipping costs, time, etc. getting one back and forth to your shop, especially for something minor. I'm buying one either way but feel it's a valid concern.

That would be the best way that I can think of to run customers off. Thank goodness you let the cat out of the bag before a lot of people purchased and found you can't buy parts after the fact. So instead of purchasing a part and installing your self you have to ship the transmission to Passon then pick up the tab on shipping back. I have been interested in the development of this product since the announcement but I have to admit this revelation has extinguished any interest.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

IMO Maybe there is a good reason he not immediately offering up parts like offshore chinese parts or unauthorized manufacturing of the parts it maybe a way to have the best quality control of your product ..
