When switching to these transmissions behind a BB mopar, obviously you have to switch to a jw bell housing, shifter, flex plate for 8 bolt crank to convertor, driveshaft yoke. Will my starter work with the thicker bell housing? Can I use my 727 convertor, just have it modified for PG/th400?

Anything else I am missing?

the j&w bell uses factory starter location.you'll be gettin a new drive shaft too.

reason being what?also there is one for 8 bolt on rj.

the best part of the conversion beside the transmission is the deeper bell housing for better converters.

The stock starter will work, but you need to shim it to get the proper starter engagement. If you buy a new ultrabell a shim kit comes with the ultrabell. If you buy used just, call JW and order the shim kit.

Good info, I have a brand new Bell+ultracase and haven´t tried to fit the starter yet, but as I am in sweden, I will handmade my own shims for the starter. The shipping will cost more than the kit itself.

i have both big and small block ones,used starters for 97 dodge pickup 5.2,no shims required on either one.
