I'm trying to get some opinions on what I should do with the manual steering box in my Dart. I have a lot of slop in the steering wheel, and I'm pretty sure the steering box is the culprit. Should I shell out the money to rebuild the one I have, or should I go with a new one? If I do go with a new one, which one should I get?

You might be able to just adjust out the slop, or at least most of it.

if you are sure it is the box then play with it and see what happens. Only if it is trashed(which is rare) should you buy a new one.

I would suggest going with a new Flaming River box, 16 to 1, made out of steel and produced in South America (Argentina). Don't waste your time & $ having your old manual box rebuilt..

Just my $0.02...

You could opt for the 20:1 Kit mopar performance sells. Should tighten everything up. If the sector shaft adjusting nut won't work well enough.
also check to see if the box you are using has bushings or needle bearings for the sector shaft.
I would get a different box if it has bushings, needle bearings are better.
