My plans are to build a 11.5-12.5 to 1 440 or 451 with the mopar 590 cam or similar and some edelbrock or source heads that ill eventually have ported. victor intake and 950 carb. 4k ish stall and 4.10 rear in a 3200 pound duster.
How fast you guys running with similar combos? Any recommendations appreciated.

MY combo;
Engine:
440 +.030, Ross pistons 13.5:1, H-beam rods, stock crank, stock block decked, unported 440 Source Stealth heads, Comp 925 springs, 10* locks & retainers, MP .590 solid cam, 2" Hooker Super Comp headers, Weiand Team G intake, 1050 dominator #9688.
Car:
'72 Barracuda, 3200 lbs w/ driver, Dana w/4.56, strange spool & axles, SS leafs, 11.5/29.5 MT, 727 trans w/ TA rmvb, TA 17509 "J" converter.
Last week at Clay City, Ky Mopar show 60' 1.410, 6.53/103.6 1/8 mile, 10.38/127.1 1/4 mile.
I am running it somewhat "detuned" because I feel that I'm very close to out running the suspension.

Interesting! I'd like to see some that are street-able as well as quick. I'd like to do .590 11.1 Eddy headed.... either 440 or 493. Can't decide what route to go.

I ran a 1.55 60' 7.13 @ 100 last night in my car. It is a 451 10.8 cr, ported e-brocks, street dominater intake, HP1000 carb (both carb and intake are brand new and untouched) and a small roller 258@.50 & 631 with pump gas @ 3800lbs.

My old motor was 8.6-1 CR and had OOTB Eddy heads and a Comp 555 solid cam.

Best on that motor was a 10.96.

Was typically in the 11.0 range though

A real low budget 440...all factory parts except for pistons, valvetrain and accessories.

1975 cast crank 440 w/ stock rods, .030 Ross flat tops with an actual 10.3:1 cr using 1039 Fel-Pro gasket, Ultradyne .588 solid flat tappet cam, ported 906 heads, M-1 intake, AED 850 Holley, Hooker Comp headers, 9.5" PTC converter, 4.10 Dana 60 all in a '70 Barracuda street car. 3" TTI X-pipe exhaust all the way back to the factory style tips.

I have yet to reach the car's full potential due to suspension and carb tuning, but it has run 11.80-11.82 @ 116mph in full street trim on a 90+ degree day with crappy air. (All 4 passes that day were in that range.)

I know the car has 11.60's in it when everything is optimized and decent weather, but still need that timeslip to prove it. For giggles, I entered the 11.80 timeslip information on this DA calculator and it came back with an 11.57 ET. http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php Like I said above though...I want that timeslip to prove it.

The car is extremely streetable overall. We drive it all over town without issue.

.040 over 440, stock crank, Crower rods (got them for a song a few years back, Probe pistons. 10.5 to 1 comp, runs fine on pump 91. Comp 259/259 .550, ported 452s dont have flow numbers, but probably around 260 @.600, M1, 950HP, 2inch Hookers

Best ET is in my sig.

Nothing special, but the combo seems to work in my fat car.......

72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72. Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

I would just ask; Given "X"($) for a budget and "Y"(required maintenance/type of gas/expected longitivy/etc.) for your goals...How much power could you make? For example, I believe Dartin' did pretty well building an entire quality car on a shoestring budget. It helps a ton doing 90% of the work and also having friends in low places with good resources.

Here's another scenario...

Back in the early '90s we threw a '74 cast crank 440 into our 3775lb '64 Savoy to go have some fun.

It was literally a $200 junkyard motor and trans. We left the stock pistons, rods, crank, bearings...everything. We put in a used .509 cam and lifters, Team G single plane intake, 750 Holley, TCI 10" converter, and 4.56 gears. The car ran 12.80's like clockwork. We then freshened the 452 heads and put on a Max Wedge intake w/ two 600 Carters. It ended up running 12.40's @ 108 mph. The engine would just not give up...it still ran when we pulled it in the late '90s for the 'good' engine.

The short block is actually still under the bench in my parents garage. We all joked that it did not have enough power to blow itself up.

Oh yeah...the compression worked out to be 7.8:1 in the good cylinders.

I had a 440 w/ Ross flattops, 10:1 w/ stock 906 heads (just a 3 angle valve job). Stock forged crank and 6 pack rods.
509/292 purpleshaft cam, stock pushrods and rockers.
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 830 Holley double pumper
1 7/8" headers, 3" exhaust and flowmasters
10" TCI streetfighter converter, 3.91 gears
On pump gas and at 3700# it ran 11.80s at 111 mph.

I swapped heads on this motor to mildly ported and shaved 915's (12:1 compression now) and went 11.40s at 117 mph.
It went 10.60s on a little nitrous, letting off at 1000' b/c it was out of gear.
