I'm in the middle of a 360 build right now. '91 block (basically magnum). Hydraulic roller cam (you can get a regrind from bullet for $125, and it's allredy on a wide lobe sep because of the factory EFI, so it works great on a turbo).
I have stock crank, stock rods with good bolts, decent forged pistons (probe's), good rings, good head gaskets, iron '308 heads (slightly ported), old torquer 340 intake, with a home modified E85 blow through carb.
I have a S400 75mm turbo (CHEAP, like $600 brand new). I'm using magnum manifolds, with my own hot side piping.
If this thing doesn't make 550hp, I must have forgotten to put 4 of the pistons in it...
550hp is CAKE...

At 3400 lbs, you are about the same weight as me. For pump gas, you need to stay around 9:1 with a stroker so it won't be too lazy off boost. If you haven't done anything yet, I would start off with a 360 block simply for the xtra cubes over a 318 block. My truck came with the 392.
Routing the turbo in an Ebody engine bay is easy...no issues with that. You have plenty of room for ac, radiator and intercooler.
For headers, I found me a used set of stainless shorties and flipped them side to side. Works great! No need for custom ones at our hp levels.
I would snag a 360 magnum motor from a junkyard, since they come with factory rollers. There are tons of them. You can use the AC from them along with the condensor, etc. Then stroke it!
Here are my goals, as an example: 100000% streetable, retain AC, PS, PB, super quiet like your grandma's Caddilac, pump gas, be able to drive it 200 miles on a trip, 600 rwhp (about 700 at the crank, limited to the factory block).

Here's mine Std LA 360 block, 410ci, W2 heads, ARP studded and short filled, BWS480 turbo, C&S 800 blowthrough carb and Air/Water IC Hoping to make around the 850fwhp mark, anything over that will be a bonus. Should be up and running in the new year I hope. Cheers gg408 ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer.gif)

I was thinking the same thing. What are you trying to see if you can make 850fwhp with that combo on 5psi?
That thing BETTER make 850hp...if not you must have forgotten 3 of the pistons when you built it...
I read a certain post on unlawfull section were Ryan built a W9 headed 48deg R3 engine with way more exotic internals and cam than what i have and it made just over 1070fwhp so I think with what I have I'm being realistic when I say 850hp.
My engine is only a std 360 block with short fill hard block,Arp main studs, Eagle 4" steel crank, Eagle H-beam rods, Arias forged pistons, FT Solid cam 235@.050" 114 lobe sep and .525" lift, home ported W2s Indy intake C&S 800 carby Arp head studs Cometics and HS rollers. If I make 850 with this eng which i should I'll be happy. Later I will build the right eng for the bigger HP.
Will the block handle the pwr only time will tell. I belive it will as turbo eng from what I belive are not as hard on the bottem ends and Nitrous engines. Having said that I have seen some nasty breakages as well with turbos.
As for leaving some pistons out I might have to as it has been a long time since I have driven a fast car. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shock.gif)
Any input on the build would be great as I am open to suggestion and help. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

I don't see you making 800hp with that engine. Not enough cam, or head. My buddy has a 392ci 360 w/ worked W5 heads a much larger 720 roller cam and he's pushing 12lbs of boost (single 100mm turbo) and he's around 850. He runs in the mid-8's chasis Plymouth TC3. The car has run as fast as 174 in the 1/4 and has more in it.

My turbo (S480, W/ non race cover) was way outside it's efficiency range on motor that made 680HP/590TQ N/A
I'm ordering a new Garrett GT91 Thumper with 1.0 AR tomorrow from Forced Inductions & am planning on re-dynoing it in 2 weeks assuming I can get my hands on 10 gallons of C16 in time. May also try a 1.32 AR on it as well... Will have EGT sensors in the turbo headers this time to monitor EGT's under boost & added a crank trigger for more precise timing changes. Also adding a dual methanol injection system, injecting into the hat & the turbo to help with inlet temps. I think we'll see 1200 without too much difficulty... I may push it into the 1300 range if I'm feeling confident after hitting 1200. We'll see, I don't need to/want to go crazy with it, just want to get some nice baseline wastegate/psi-power settings for when it goes in the car, but those kind of power #'s get addicting when it is on dyno & it is so easy to make simple changes & watch #'s skyrocket.

I would have to say that your buddy is making a lot more than that unless his car is 2000lbs, but I could be wrong.
Well I can give you an example were I have a mate making 840fwhp with 355ci Aussie Holden engine and a s400 with the same cam specs and blow through at 17lbs of boost. Car comes in at 3300 lbs with driver and has run best 144mph in the 1/4. In the car it did only showed 720 before it melted a piston.
There are more examples that I have seen and based my build on that are around the same specs.
I don't think it will be easy but I do belive it can be done.
As for the block I would rather trash an LA block than a R3, the LA blocks are much cheaper.
