So I get my new push rods and my nice hold down kit to use with the CRANE gold rockers I have had sitting on my shelf for some time, and as I start setting the lash on my 360 hydraulic cammed motor, I hear a crack. Back the rocker stud all the way out, and the jam nut is locked on the adjuster big time.
I get it loose, and all the threads peel off like nothing. No spares, but I tried to set the rest, and two more cracked before I even finished....Just lovely. I guess the green truck is done for the season, tomorrow was TNT....What junk!

How long have they been sitting?
It really doesn't matter whether you win or lose… as long as you look good doing it!

Consider yourself fortunate..most of those bad Crane screws broke AFTER the engine ran...and boogered up many a engine.

I run hughes rockers in my BB. Over .700 lift and over .550 spring rate. never had any problems ever. I run the valves every week and they don't need it. (never any loose)they are a little more than the gold but you get what you pay for. just my 2 cents worth.
I may pick up some of those for the shafts + improved oiling over the cranes...
mine are ok but there was a few runs of those bad adjusters which caused lots of issues...

The adjusters. The threads just crack right off...Heck, I didn't even have them tight yet, just snug.

I know there were alot of guys complaining about them a few years back. I, like others here, took the Crane adjusters and pitched them when they were still new in favor of the Smith Bros type. I have NEVER liked those narrow Crane nuts, mostly cuz there so easy to slip off of with your wrench.

Yeah, I am missing some skin off my knuckles too. I put the stock ones back on and put it in the trailor for the winter. We will see what I get done on it this year.
