Mopar is famous for not getting the cam bores the correct I.D. I have scraped many cam bearings, one at a time, to get the cams to install properly. If you don't have a cam bearing tool take the block to someone who does and remove all of them but the rear one, install the cam in it annd see if it will rotae easily or not. If not look at the tight spots, they shine and scrape the shine off with a BEARING KNIFE, do not try to hone it Once that is fixed mmove to the next one, do one at a time until there all done One of the machine shops that I use to used in SO CA used a brake hone to hone the block cam holes(journals to the proper size and then install new standard cam bearings. I don't live close to them anymore so I have to do it myself (scrape method) now EDITED for content, sorry for rushing earlier IHTMSN

I have a fix to this problem that i have tried on several motors.
Take an old cam and cut (i did it with an anglegrinder with cutoff wheel) grooves on every bearing journal along the cam. this will make it cut the bearings. use some fine sandpaper to smooth the journals. install cam with oil and turn a few turns. I promise it will work.
This is all I do.... I cut a old cam for this purpose

Ok, is like a groove in the middle of the cam journals?
I cut a groove in each cam journal... I used a .040 thick cut off wheel... slip it in and give it a few turns

dont you have to worry about peeling off a whole layer or making it thin?

Nope it just cuts any tight spots... being that its a full cam its in there straight... and I've never had a cam bearing problem doing it this way

It's called a "cutter cam" and many machine shops have been doing it this way for years. Is it the "absolute" right way to do it, not really, but the "right" way generally gets to be expensive and not really neded in 90% of applications.

A quality machine shop will do this automatically as part of the cam bearing install proceedure.
Its the way I do it in my garage!
I guess now, it Qualifies as a Quality Machine shop. mike
