I thought I read somewhere that hemi cars and A12 cars had a special K member. But if A12 cars began life as a standard 383 car, then it seems they would not.
Anyone?

1969 HEMI cars have their own k-frame (skid plate & HEMI mounts) SPECIAL
1969 A12 cars use a mid-model year V8 k-frame (used '70 K-frame lower half with provisions for the "pass-thru" sway bar, yet retained '69 sway bar) not special An early '69 model year V8 k-frame is different.
I had a June 26 '69 scheduled production date '69 383 road runner that had the '69 soon to be '70 (with the different swaybar and mount) K-frame so it wasn't an A12 special K-frame it's just that it seems most of the A12's just happened to have this style of K-frame Here's what I put together with a K-frame I have that came off of another late production '69 383 road runner, again the K-frames were going to have a different type and style swaybar and these were the pre-change over K-frames

Ok, So I'm hearing you say that the A12 cars had a 1970 style K Frame, but the used a 69 sway bar whereas the 1970 cars used the same K frame, and a different sway bar? -Dan
Yep, and so did some later production '69 B-bodies or at least some later production '69 road runners that I've seen and owned.

No, it was a specific last half of '69 Model year only (due to sway bar mounting holes). estimated dates August '67 to February '69 ('68 & early '69 V8 b-body) March '69 to July '69 (late '69 V8 b-body) August '69 to ?? w/skidplate 440 ('70+ b-body) August '69 to ?? 318 & 383 ('70+ b-body)

Dan, your list seems pretty spot on to me with '69 models starting in late March having the change over style K-frames ('70 bottom with '69 swaybar). The '70 models I know nothing about except that skid plate thing
March to July '69 at least for the Lynch Road cars seems to be spot on Don't know what happened at the "E"-LA and the "G"-St Louis assembly plants
