I have a 70 Dart with a low deck stroker/727 with 2" Fenderwell headers. Last weekend i was trying to get the tranny dipstic tube in and there was no way it was going to fit. So i try the ol "bend it a little over your knee" trick. Well i bent it allright. Bent it right in half. Im not too upset because i didnt figure it would fit all that well anyway. So I have been searching the intrawebs looking for different options. From reading on here, it would seem that certain GM dipstics will work on our old 727's. For my application, a flexible one would be very helpful. I found these on the EBAY: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Flexible-...sQ5fAccessories Would this work? If not, What GM tranny should i be looking for?

I know Lokar makes a flexible dipstick. You can get it from summit or im sure that 1 of the sponsers here can get it as well.

i know what you mean by trans. dipsitck tube in dart w bb = doesnt want to fit in there.
i got mine to fit in by cutting off the bracket on it that bolts to the engine to trans bolt and then it would swivel more toward the pass. side and i made up my own bracket to bolt to the firewall. i looked at the lokar but i couldnt justify the 70 or 80 bucks. i do have regular under chassis headers tho. so i might of had more room than you. those tubes dont want to bend ive tried too but gave up before it bent in two.

i dont think the gm would be the right depth stick and all but that price isnt bad at all.

I went with a locking dipstick from Mancini on my BB duster. It's close to the firewall but works fine and I like the improved seal at the trans.

Yea i have a hard time justifying $80 for something as silly as a dipstick tube. I didnt think the $25-$30 for the flexable GM one was all that bad though.

Easy fix but a little expensive, GO 4-SPEED!

Im sure a 4 speed swap will cost just a smidge more than an $80 dipstick tube.

Do you have SOLID motor mounts ??? The dipstick is bolted to the engine/trans for a reason , packaging was not the reason .

Good idea, a torque strap only limits movement.

Yes, but worth it.
