I have a 70 Dart with a low deck stroker/727 with 2" Fenderwell headers. Last weekend i was trying to get the tranny dipstic tube in and there was no way it was going to fit. So i try the ol "bend it a little over your knee" trick. Well i bent it allright. Bent it right in half. Im not too upset because i didnt figure it would fit all that well anyway. So I have been searching the intrawebs looking for different options. From reading on here, it would seem that certain GM dipstics will work on our old 727's. For my application, a flexible one would be very helpful. I found these on the EBAY: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Flexible-...sQ5fAccessories Would this work? If not, What GM tranny should i be looking for?

i looked at the lokar but i couldnt justify the 70 or 80 bucks.
Yea i have a hard time justifying $80 for something as silly as a dipstick tube. I didnt think the $25-$30 for the flexable GM one was all that bad though.

i got mine to fit in by cutting off the bracket on it that bolts to the engine to trans bolt and then it would swivel more toward the pass. side and i made up my own bracket to bolt to the firewall. .
Do you have SOLID motor mounts ??? The dipstick is bolted to the engine/trans for a reason , packaging was not the reason .

no , but i have a torque strap , glad you pointed that out as i havent fired it up yet since i did the mod. on the tube. i guess i should bolt it back to the motor to be safe.
Good idea, a torque strap only limits movement.

Im sure a 4 speed swap will cost just a smidge more than an $80 dipstick tube.
Yes, but worth it.
