Use the one that has the same thickness as the one on the driver's side.
Well, yeah, that would make sense.
The gasket that came off was a Felpro (.030").
So I would guess that is what is on the other side.
The Mr. Gasket is .040".
I'd like to know if anyone has had any problems with sealing with the white, slick material of the Mr. Gasket product.

I didn't know felpro made an .030 composite gasket , what's the number on it ?

8519 PT-1.
You can barely make it out in the pic if you blow it up.
This another reason I love this site - it forces you to double-check yourself.
I probably should have been more specific.
Using my dial caliper in about 10 different places on the gasket, the Fel-pro showed exactly .030".
But, doing a search is showing that people say the thickness is in the range of .040".
Here is some info I found - no surprise that both of these are on Moparts:
https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=6136576&Main=6134460
https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=6084813&Main=5930299
Couple of other sites showing up on a search say the same thing.
So, could be that my caliper is off, and that would make the Mr. Gasket head gasket more like .050".
Mercy.

Use another 8519 if that is what is on the other side , it's not .030 unless you got some oddball that made it out the door , it'sa .039ish gasket .

Ah, well, this turned into a "Don't ask me how I know" kind of a thing...
Called Central High Performance (800-222-6805), talked to a good guy who had plenty of specs on non-stock head gaskets, but not on the 8519 PT-1.
He did tell me though that Fel-pro was owned by Federal Mogul, and I could call them (248-354-7700) and get the thickness.
Called, got transferred around for a while, then got in touch with a great guy that gave me the thickness:
.045" off the shelf .0388" compressed
Took my gasket to the machine shop, to get it measured with a decent caliper, he read .043".
Went upstairs into the NAPA store, with my caliper and gasket, to shop for another caliper, and while the guy was looking up caliper part numbers, it hit me.
So, when reading your dial caliper, if you want to read thousandths, be sure that you are not looking at 64ths. See picture.
But at least now I know that 3/64" equals .045".

Any chance of posting some close-up pictures of the Mr. Gasket part?
Does this help?
Thickness on this one is actually reading between .058" and .062" for me, now that I remembered how to correctly read the caliper.
The guy at the machine shop got a reading of .058".
The material is kind of "waxy" feeling.

It's called COMPRESSED thickness for a reason , you need to measure it with the head bolted to the block, it will slightly spring back when the clamping force is removed.

No problem there - I fully understood that part.
Where I went wrong was just that I had boneheadedly forgotten how to read my caliper.

Yes, thanks!
BTW, those look like one of the head gasket options that 440 Source offers now, too.

Capt'n, The white head gaskest shown at the 440 source site are the old Corteco/ROL gaskets which are hard to find. They mention that Edelbrock uses these, but in fact Edelbrock now uses the FelPro 8519PT-1 as their gasket of choice for their cylinder heads.I have a set that are in Edelbrock bags.
Nautilus Racing- We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

Just measure arouind the fire ring, and look at the wall thickness near waterjackets and you will start to understand what I'm talking about.
I'm pretty much locked into using the Fel-pro anyway, simply to match what should be on the other side.
But, I think I'm getting what you are talking about, if you mean the variation in thickness. That's what I meant above when I said that I am getting different thicknesses when I measure in different places on the gasket - between .058" and .062".
Myself I don't have enough experience with them to know if this is a big deal, but I did talk to another buddy (former Chrysler mechanic) at a cruise-in last Friday that said he would stay away from that brand.
Or are you talking about the diameters of the holes not matching up with the ones on the head?
I think I'll check that out tomorrow.
