If you just want to do shock/tire adjustments then try going full soft on your extension. On a ladder bar car it extends the shock first and then transfers. If the shock is full soft on extension it will hit the tire harder. You will want to stiffen the compression up some when you do this to keep the rearend planted longer. You may also try playing with air pressure on your slicks. What psi are you running now? Rear ballast also helps some. If you want to move your ladder bars then going up a hole will also hit the tire harder.

Back the motor down, timing, squirter, collector length, try differnt stall speeds so it doesn't flash as high and so on  BTW, it ain't hard to slow them down, it is a lot harder to speed them up when they hook good Once you make enough power to spin the tires it is harder to back them down  Do you have a set of drill front shocks

My car is pretty good under most conditions, but when the air is over 90F, and the sun is shining on the track (afternoon vs night race), then I have problems too. This past Saturday we had another afternoon session, so I threw a bunch at it. I was able to fix the hook, even though the car was slow. I ran 3 passes from 2pm to 5:30pm with sixty foot times within 0.001 (no spin) and at 5pm they announced the track temperature was 138F.  - Front suspension travel limiters (bump stop spacers): Normally 0.375", changed to 0" to maximize front end travel and weight transfer.
- Reduced rear tire pressure 0.5 psi
- Added 26 pounds with steel trunk lid instead of fiberglass
- Added another 20 pounds ballast in back
- Minimum burn out (but I don't do much normally anyway)
I always have my front shocks fully loose in extension damping. That is what is needed to get my front heavy chassis to work. I don't like track temperatures over 120F...

Funny you guys mention shorter burnouts. I might try that. I had been doing harder burnout on the greasy track as I though you wanted the tires hotter.
track temp + X = best hook.
This must have been bad advice.
Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.

Leon, I don't know for sure, but that is what I do and have been sucessful with. Like I said, I don't do a big burn out normally; except after weeks of not running and the first burn out of the day gets more smoke. I agree that on cooler tracks, more heat in the tire is good. But on tracks over 120F, it seems too much burnout just makes the tires worse.

I gave up trying everything in the book so I gave up and put weight in the trunk....
150lbs fixed mine right up last race.
Worst track conditions I have ever seen this summer.
