hey guys,
as some of you may know, i have an issue of wheelhop on my car, and after getting my pinion angle sorted out, i still have some hop (albeit not as bad as before)...id like to step up to the rancho 9000 rears that calvert sells but i have a few questions
first off, i know calvert offers them in stock, lowered, or raised ride heights...which application would be the length im after? currently only have 6cyl leafs with one addded, may go to a super stock spring if the shocks dont work, but i want to make sure i have enough travel...if i go with the stock one, will it be enough even if i go to SS springs, or should i go raised?
also, is calvert the only place who sells these shocks for the mopar application?
thanks for any help in advance...im really hoping these coupled with the calvert 90/10's will work nicely on the car and hopefully help stop the wheelhop (the back shocks anyways)
thanks! Matthew

hey guys,
i have talked with john at calvert before, but i just dont feel that caltracs are the ideal thing for my car right now, which sees alot of street miles...if i go with the caltracs im going to go the whole nine yards and get the monos as well, but thats not very ideal for me
back to the original question though, with my 29 inch tire (soon to be 28) should i go the stock height shocks, 1" higher, or 1" lower??? not sure which ones would work best, i dont want a shock that ends up being too short
thanks matthew

Im thinking the 9000 is what everyone runs, and have had good results.
Im running mopar performance HD extra long race shocks cause they were cheap, and if they work good, ill buy the 9000 shocks.
Kasey
i know they are a good shock, which is why im asking about them....but what im asking is which specific ones since they are offered stock height, 1" lower and 1" higher...that is the info i am looking for, which one to spring for...nothing else but that

If you think the Rancho's won't be long enough(they should be) then just add some shock extensions.Mr.Gasket makes them. The Rancho website has the compressed and extended length for their shocks.
Nautilus Racing- We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

well i have homemade spring boxes on the car and have the car sitting in the top whole on the box which is 1" higher than the stock location, making the car obviously sit 1" lower....however, im worried that if i go with the 1" lower shock i may not have enough travel...also, if i ever have to put it back to stock ride height for whatever reason, the shocks may not be long enough...kinda why im in a tossup here
looked everywhere and couldnt find specs on the extended and compressed length on these shocks...im still wondering if they will even be long enough at all
Since your trying to get multi purpose out of these I would get under the car and measure it... car on stands axle up just to lift the body, measure mount to mount ... thats the curb length... now drop the axle and measure again... thats your extended length... ADD 1" for your shock extended length so you might want to add 3" to YOUR extended length for SS springs IF it will be ok on the short length (curb length) ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

hey guys, perfect! i eventually found the specs at the end of the online catalog...i will measure for shock length tommorow and then go from there...I cant see why none of them wouldnt be long enough, but you never know
for those that have replied, just out of curiosity which ones are you running on your rides?
thanks matthew
I run a QA-1 12 way adjustables

Hey Whip, thanks for getting back to me! i checked out the shocks you are running and man they are more than long enough lol...only thing is they arent adjustable, which is what im after in the ranchos...good news is i measured my shocks today...when sitting on its own weight they measured 16.5", but when extended measured 21.5"...So i guess add a few inches to the extended length and that is the length i need? i had thought that maybe the shocks would be limiting the amount of extension when letting the rear hang to measure, but obviously not since these shocks are supposed to extend to about 24" ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shruggy.gif)
