What Turbo's would work best for a fairly mild fuel injected twin turbo 440 in a 73 Roadrunner street car? I'm looking to make 600-800 rwhp. I prefer cheap or junkyard as this is my first turbo experience. I am planning on making my own log style ex manifold and putting one turbo in the area the battery was in and the other one in about the same area on the passenger side in the burp tank area. I am not planning to start this project until winter but would like to start looking for the turbo's/parts now so I am ready when the fun starts

I used to have a twin turbo setup for a 440 that used Garrett T04 turbos. Those are pretty easy to find.

Garrett TV8101 would work. That's what I'm running on my 440. Relatively cheap (around $300-$400) and will easily give you 800 HP.

Are you running a single Garret or twins? I plan to run twins. What did the Garrett TV8101 come on Powerstrokes?

It's a 85mm single. I'm not sure what they came on. You can search the net for more info on them. I paid around 400 for mine from someone, rebuilt from Majestic turbo with a polished compressor housing.

big dump trucks and the like. The TV series is older tech, but a good affordable option. I've been trying to score one myself for a reasonable price in decent condition.

A S400 would work faily well depending on desired boost.

11.67@118 1.88 60' with only 7-8 lbs of boost. Turbocharged, megasquirted, 407 BB, 440 source heads, roller cam, 9:1 comp. http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm14/beansgracie

There is a great deal on here right now on a 88mm for sale. The 88 will give you the power you want plus give you alot of room to grow power if you want to later without having to upgrade the turbo. If i didnt already have the 106mm i would have jumped on it for the price.

88mm garrett/ air reasearch turbo ran 5.70 @ 126 in my 3300lb leaf spring car on its 5th pass, A/A cooler, blow-thru carb on race gas w/28x10 and 15 lbs of boost. It has a 3.5 in outlet on cold side and 5in v-band clamp for exhaust. I have a 1.39 ar housing that has 10 runs since new and what looks to ge a .96 or 1.15 I'm not sure what it is that came with it included. The only reason for selling is I have just went to a larger turbo. 850$ thanks you can pm me here, Will ship

I was told a pair of S475 turbos would work. This turbo is right off the shelf for the Detroit 60 diesel engines with no fancy modifications.

I'm kinda partial to my combination. S400-75 is cheap. 80 or 88 might be better suited for all out power, but this working well.

So would that same size turbo also be suited for a 440 stroked to 499?

No, It's borderline for a 440 street motor. You would want the 88 for a 499"
