Street application, prefer aftermarket/mega block
maybe alloy heads, not a "maximum effort" motor, longevity and ease of maintenance important, pump gas,
Not anyones fault but am very tired of wild goose chases and fairy tales at home, so am in planning stages of liquidating some wedge stuff and sundry spares but cost is still a big consideration.I can only do this in this "downturn"
if I can scrape up enough to not overextend (use credit)cause hey, it's a big part of my/our lives, but I gotta be careful.
Please no bashing, only looking for a line on what to shoot for, if ever!
Thanks, I came to the experts
Casey

Can't go wrong with the New Mopar Crate Engines. The 528's and 572's both use the new mega block and new style Alum. heads. The 528 and 572's are both built by reputable builders

Why not a 572? Should be the same price I would think, except you prolly have to run an external oil line.

Go w/an aluminum block.

when building a 572 you have to clearance the cylinder walls on the bottom so the crank doesn't hit the block. and check if the crank clears in other areas as well. you don't have to do that on a 472.
on the oil lines it depends on what block you use. on my 572 i run a internal oil pickup.

Lots of places out there build Hemi's....What is your goal with it? Lots of different choices, and you will need to have your thoughts ready when you talk with some of the builders.

Some good choices already mentioned:
Ray Barton Racing (RBRE)
BG Racing (BGR)
For Hemis Only (FHO)
Best Machine
Azurra (spelling?)

I run a 484 in my Cuda kinda more race orientated, and my engine builder has a 472 in his 3850 '70 Charger and its all street and ocassional strip. The mild 472 has 10:1 compression, .562" mechanical cam, mildly sand rolled cast heads, RBRE single 4bl intake with an annular 950 cfm carb, 4.10 gears in an 8-3/4, 3800 10" convertor, and MT street radials.

Car has already gone 7.55 in the 1/8th and 11.89 in the 1/4 shifting at 5800...We are looking to go 11.50's or real close. I will let you know this Friday.

For most cars, this is a lot of engine in the torque department. Its already killed three 8-3/4 rears and one drive shaft, but I think we figured out how to make these live under it. Its got very mild street cruiser manners and the car is almost completely stock. Love this set-up, and you can't go wrong with one of these. Could drive this back and forth to work every day....

One thing I will mention, is they are also for sale on Racing Junk from time to time. This can be helpful in price checking and seeing what is avaialabe used. If I recall, there is a real mild all aluminum one on there right now for sale for just under $16k...Do a search under hemi, and a buch will come up. I will post the link to the real mild one later.

Thanks ,all you guys, some good info...time to start organizing the garage sale. I must say the Barton built Mancini looks awesome for the $...
a good 528 will probably bend my Chall in half just as effectively as a 572 ???
With gratitude,
Casey
