Remove and check the bypass valve in the pump cover, it should slide in and out by turning the cover up ad down. The valve and spring are mounted at the rear of the cover It is not uncommon for that to happen, especially after someting breaks like a valve spring Let us know what you find

I just hope what happen to mine did not happen to yours. Mlne killed a roller lifter and some of it got passed the oil pump up to the rod bearings. But you could see where something had marked up the rotor in the oil pump.
