The diamond plate lid is a nice touch

A few years ago we ran my buddy's 8-71 400 Pontiac without air cleaners on a chassis dyno, and it only picked up about 7hp so we put them back on. The air cleaners were like 9x4 or 5.....he has a whole other setup now though.

interesting some1 had test results with a blower and filter.the diamond plate was leftover from the trailer floor install.

ya, i think thats big enuff.... i like it better than your old scoop set up. I know its a classic blower scoop but i wish someone would come up with a more modern design for carbs. maybe carbon fiber or sumpthin...

taking a page here from Duster Dave's creation

Quote:

Like everything else on this car, nothing was an easy bolt on. Round filter elements would not fit inside the BDS Dominator blower scoop. I came up with a design that uses a flat style K&N filter element. To make it work, I made an aluminum filter base that fits tightly inside the scoop, and is held in place with just one screw. A pair of 3/8" aluminum C-channels and 4 screws holds the element securely in place.

that has less area than a 6pac filter.

i wanted to use this old scoop but it would take some welding to make it taller.
