I have recently switched from drum to disc front brakes on my 73 challenger. I also put on a new dual reservoir master cylinder. The problem that I am having is that I have no front brakes. They bleed out fine with no air. The rear drums are good also.

After I pump the pedal up I can hear brake fluid squirt back into the master cylinder from the front brakes. All lines are tight and nothing is leaking.

I read somewhere that I might have to change the proportioning valve. Is this true? If not, what could the problem be?

Thanks for everyones time.

There is no PP valve on drums. You will need one.Thats not the problem.Did you bleed the master? That and make sure the caliper bleeders are facing up.You can bleed gallons thru and not have brakes.Dont ask how I know.Rocky

I thought some time in 73 or 74 all E-body got disk brakes standard?

Check to make sure the bleeder valves are at the top of caliper. If they are at the bottom, there will be a big air pocket stuck in the caliper and you won't have brakes. The fix is usually to switch calipers left to right.

That's what's got me worried. Wonder what was taken off and what was "thrown" back on. Might need to evaluate every part in that brake system to see where it came from.

I flipped the calipers and everything worked out great. I just got home from the first shake down cruise without breaking down, so I'm happy.

I knew I had them on wrong, but I was concerned with the brake line hitting the control arm. This brake swap has taken me a week and 2 sets of calipers and 2 master cylinders. Not to mention the gallons of brake fluid. The first ones were off a coronet and did not work out as everyone probably already knows.

I did not think that calipers knew what side was up. Now I know.

I should have looked into this brake swap a little more than just jumping into it. I am definitly getting a mopar education though.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out. I really appreciate it.
