I have a 1974 Scamp with a 318, backed it out of garage yesterday and it started fine and ran, has new battery, went to put it back in and there was nothing, no electrical to any thing, no lights in or out, nothing. Any ideas to what might cause this, getting pi$$ed.

Thanks

New battery before or after you backed the car out?

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Check your fusable link to see if it is good. They will go bad like that and everything goes dead. Good Luck! Ronnie

Engine and forward light harness fusible link

When you check the fusible link, make sure you feel the entire length of the wire for bulges. When the fusible link blows, it doesn't always look like it is bad from the outside. I would remove it and check it with an ohm meter for continuity. If it is bad you will be able to stretch it if you pull on both ends.

This may sound stupid but a lot of people do do it. Did you remove the plastic caps off of the battery post before you put on the the battery clamps?

Otherwise I would check for voltage at the starter relay, if it is there check the fusable link like the others mention.

It will be going from the starter relay to the bulkhead connector. Get your test light out and start at the battery and trace from there.

If you have voltage at the big red wire at the starter relay, check the thicker wire from the (blue in this picture) leading from the relay to the bulkhead connector. disregard the arrows

jump from the large batt stud on the starter relay on the bottom in the pic into the center of the bulkhead on top where the fusible link goes in, w a metal probe to bypass it & if you're good NAPA has Mopar fusible links (16 ga I think)

Maybe not a bad ground but I think most of us have been in similar situations where we scratch our heads then find something simple was wrong.
