I was thinking the same thing too. These cars were built with single springs and people ran the hell out of them. Its possible that the heads wouldn't need additional machining, but he wasn't sure until he got into it. If that were the case, the dual springs are only about $70 more... but that is still money that could be spent elsewhere on the car if dual springs won't gain me anything.
and that isn't counting the machine work that will have to be done to the heads to make a dual spring work. If you don't need them don't use them. Use a single spring rated for the cam if possible.

Ok, good to hear I was thinking the right thing. Comp Cams recommends both options with similar spring rates so I wasn't sure if there was a big advantage to using dual on a street motor. Thanks for the opinions so far.

You need nothing more than a single spring for what you are doing.Probably a Comp 911.

Many modern cams need dual springs even with lower lofts because of the fast rate of lift. If you are having the ehads doen anyway, I'd have the spring seats and guides trimmed for the positive seals now. Even if you dont need them right now, you may, and it's cheap to do now and you'll have better valve seals regardless of the spring. You can run single springs with std guides and std seats, but you can never run dual springs with factory seals or spring seats.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.
