Thanks for the drawings, those will help immensely! Do you have one for the door windows as well?
Alan - you are a sick dude. These dang regulators look like some type of Rube Goldberg contraption to me! Lots of parts to accomplish a simple task! I put power regulators in my son's jeep in about a half an hour - I'm thinking these are a full day project - maybe a weekend. I probably would be time ahead to buy a service manual. These windows and the four speed linkage are the parts I am dreading most about putting this car back together. The four speed linkage looks pretty simple, but I am converting this car and have never seen it together to know what it is supposed to look like. What holds the rear glass in the lower channel can you just use glass glue?

Just went through the install last fall for the rears on my 73. If you want pics, let me know. Hardest for me was how to install the stop.

Ha ha, cleaning the grease. I have a parts washer, that was unfortunately the easy part. Just got finished with the passenger door. This had to be the most difficult, most unsatisfying job in the history of the automobile. The worst part about it was when I got half-way through, after two hours of struggling and watching the glass bounce back and forth against the metal brackets in the window well, and discovering that the front lift channel fastener, on the far side of the glass, hadn't been installed...wasn't called for in the FSM (as the front slides were). I can't DESCRIBE how much fun it was to get this installed through that little 1 inch slot by the window crank. I certainly wasn't about to undo the whole job and risk damaging the glass more just to put this on, so I did it the hard way. On the upside, I only have one more piece of glass to install on the car, and then I get to adjust it all. THEN I can put in all the interior panels and button up the interior. Amazing how this one, hideous, awful job is holding up the entire rest of the restoration, the fun parts.

Yeah, it's lots of fun isn't it, lol. Then there's the time spent on adjusting it and getting everything to line up just right.

I will need to install my window stuff before too long also. Since the car is painted, my fear was having the mechanism fall into the panel and denting it from the inside out. Someone suggested that I put a piece of cardboard in the door/quarter area while installing stuff to prevent accidental internal denting. Don't know if anyone else has done this but had planned on trying it for my install.

I suppose what you're saying would be possible to happen, but I would think pretty unlikely. Anything that falls is going to more than likely just hit the horizontal bottom area of the inside of the door.
My bigger concern was protecting the glass from scratches. I went so far as to cover it with some 3 mil plastic sheeting. This became such a huge pain in itself, I just removed it and installed the glass bare. Maneuvering with the plastic made it MORE likely I would damage the glass.
Having had more time to think about this job, and having adjusted the glass since my last post, I retract what I said about the job being unsatisfying. It was a huge pain, but in the end, it works pretty well, and it does give the car a big boost in feeling of completion. If you take your time, it's relatively simple to get the glass adjusted really well. After about 30 minutes, I had a perfect seal around both pieces of side glass. The only strange problem is the door glass doesn't quite want to close all the way when the door is closed, it closes flush with the seal, but doesn't overlap the way it's supposed to. Closing it with the door open and then closing the door eliminates this problem. I guess I could really crank down on the handle and jam it shut, but my original regulator was ruined this way, I'd rather not strip the teeth off this one too.
