And as for the noise complaining buffs out there, well what did you think the greatest metropolis in the nation would sound like, crickets in the mist? No! you'll have to hear open exhaust on every corner cause people sooner or later will take to the streets.

What, No more racing @ cross bay blvd behind Kennedy airport, The cops did not bust ya till after 11 on Thursdays, saw my first funny car run there back in the late 70s,Seems that they were still racin there in the early 80s when I left

178 here. My Dad grew up in Island Park so if this happens we might come up at some point. There was a petition here to prevent anything from being built where 75-80 Dragway is after it closed, and less than a year later the track re-opened after extensive repairs.

Have you thought about talking to the folks that have the old Grumman site? That closed east side runway would make a dandy drag strip. You can never have too many allies in an endeavor like this.
