I just got this 69 Charger R/T running after 15 years! The problem I have is that the 727 transmission shifts late from 1st to 2nd and especially 2nd to 3rd. I have to get up to 40, 45 mph and then let off the gas to get it to shift to 3rd. The tranny is full of fluid in nutral and has a new filter. This is my first Mopar with an auto and I really am clueless on how to adjust the shift points. Is the arm that goes to the carb throttle bracket the only adjust point? Thanks Carl

Ok, so I should shorten it and have a space between the pin on the throttle linkage and the back of the oval opening on the kick down?
Forgot to mention that its a Eddy 750 carb.

shorten it by turning the turnbuckle w the elongated slot CW which will increase the "space" but your return spring will pull the slot forward taking up the space so the carb pin will still be at the rear end of the elongated slot (as before)but the end result that will help you is the linkage at the trans will not be pushed as far back at any given throttle which is what you want to lower the shift points. EDIT check the linkage further rearward/down & if there's a threaded adjustment shorten it there.

To make the linkage work correctly on the Edelbrock you need their Mopar throttle lever extension (part number 1481)

You're right, the spring is missing! I'll get one and install it. Thanks Carl

Hope someone can help you out Carsten, but thanks for reviving this thread -
I used the info to tweak the less-than-perfectly shifting 727's on both my Satellites and they are 90% better.. just a little more tweaking with a better return spring and the 8003 extension from Summit... Cheers, - Art

Hi,
the old pics are gone. Does anyone have pictures to get an idear?
Carsten The parts labeled 1 and 12 are where the adjustment is made for early/late shifts.
