Do you have any idea which cam company made it and what grind? Solid roller cams can have anywhere from .032 to .012 hot There is no way I would risk taking a chance on using a S.W.A.G on what lash to use on a cam I knew nothing about several ways to find out which cam and grind it is, pull the cam out and look for the grind and companys name on the front or the rear of the cam, or take it out and take it to a shop that has a Cam Doctor or send it to a shop that has a Cam Docter and have them check it for lift, duration and hot valve lash settings

Measure the lash ramp............put a dial gauge on the lifter/pushrod , between zero lift to when the dial gauge starts to spin crazy will be you're lash setting x rocker ratio , ie: if the lash ramp measures .010" the lash with 1.5 rr will be .010" x 1.5 = .015" lash cold.

As Cab says , guessing lash will break valve trains in a short space of time , you might get away with tighter lash , anything much over .004" lash is asking for trouble.

For what it`s worth, I set mine at .014-.016 cold w/alum heads and they end up around .020-.022 hot....Isky solid roller.

again you need to know what the cam company recommends. I set my at .005-.007 cold, and it opens to .020-.022 hot...aluminum engine and Jesel rocker arms.

how old is the Isky cam? They use to be real loose on the lash, .028 hot on most of the ones I know about I would probally try .020 cold and reset it as soon as possible. Check Isky web site for the lash, can you measure the valve opening and duration? If so that might get you close on the valve lift to see what cam it is close to. Best bet is to remove it and make sure which brand and what grind it is
