will a sgl piston set up work with the sway bar on a 68 runner? I believe these are late a body spindles and discs as they are not the pin type? Just wondering if I should save them for the 68 or not thanks

Shouldn't be a problem and you can always mount the calipers toward the rear.

That's the setup to use. Apparently they will interfere with the swaybar but since you've swapped brakes you may as well swap swaybars too! I guess the '70 swaybar is supposed to be the ticket. Moving the spindles side to side to move the calipers to the back apparently causes hose problems.

misleading information in that article about the F, M, J and late B spindles being something to stay away from its hogwash

Those problems can be overcome by just ordering the right set of brake hoses and a banjo bolt. Or buying braided hoses with banjo end and a banjo bolt.

You're going to have to buy brake hoses anyway, so just figure out the right ones to buy.

changing sway bars involves changing k frames to a 70 b body k, whishisnt the easiest or most inexpensive to find,

thanks for the responses, I was going to go braided stainless anyway

The calipers have to hang on rear, and the hoses are the only issue. I ended up using some early nineties ford E van hoses, but heard that there is hope for some aspen volare hoses also.

I used '73 Charger hoses on my '64 where I mounted the calipers to the rear. These hoses have the least amount of hard line on them so they're more flexible. I don't know how similar the brake hose mounting is between the '64 and '68.

This is the '73 Charger hose.

This is a '73 Dart hose which had too much stress on it when the car was on the ground.

On my 69 RR I used 75 Dart spindles and had to reverse them to avoid the sway bar. Like the various magazine articles and other members have mentioned, I also used 1979 Aspen brake lines and an Aspen station wagon proportioning valve. Also used the larger Cordoba rotors and later model B body calipers. Been using this system for the past 6 years and no problems.

did you have to change the caliper bracket to run the doba rotors?

What about running Viper calipers using the AndyF brackets? Would that take care of the swaybar and hose issues?

BTW, I have found the Russell SS braided hoses to be the same price as rubber hoses. Have to order the drum brake set even if you have discs swapped on a B or E body. I think the disc set is for Wilwood brakes as it has two female ends.

I want my fair share

prob coz fatory its a 4 piston setup and the caliper has a hard line that runs to the hose, least thats how it is on my amx and the mopar calipers are similar!

Viper parts sound cool, but that opens a whole other can of worms, with wheel size, and master booster combos...
