John if I can get a reasonable flight I would be glade to give what you are asking for your years of experience and expertise. Possibly what was said was a attempt of humor at you expence. I agree it was BBBB SSSS and very disrespectful.

Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Since he isn't as well known as some of the other Mods, I don't think it was taken as well as if it would have been someone more popular.

Anyway, I think it is an awesome idea John. Will it be every saturday once you start?

Thanks

Starting in November 2009 and going thru March 2010 CRT will offer a hands on seminar where you will learn how to rebuild the 727 torque flight. Class will be held at Cope Racing Transmissions in Lowell Indiana on Saturdays. I do have teaching experience as I taught auto & manual trans and differential class at a local collage. This will be 100% hand on class, You will dissemble a 727, I will go over the workings of the trans, give building techneack, go over high performance tips. Spend time on valve bodies, then have you reassemble the transmission. The class will be small only 4-6 students per class, 2 in each group. You must pre register by phone. The seminar will cost $200.00 each, you will get a 10% discount off any parts ( complete transmission excluded ) bought the day of the seminar. Seminar will start at 10:00 am and go to 4:00 pm Call John Cope at 219-374-0100 to sign up or if you have any question.

Proud graduate of the CRT Torque Flite school here....

Highly Recommend this to everyone wanting to do their own trans.

Yes, John knows a LOT about other transmissions as well. ask me how I know....LOL

So is the 904 the same as a 727 as far as building them? If so I would like to make it to a class.

I agree that I'm sure the comment was snark, and forgot the

but the question someone asked wasn't answered...is it on CRT cores or can you bring your own tranny? it'd be super cool if you could bring your own.

I have been thinking about this class all day and what a great oppurtunity it is..

It would be very difficult to have a class where everyone brought in there own trans.. There would be no way to cover or repair every problem or broken component in each trans on a personal basis in that amount of time.

Sounds like it taught using "lab" transmissions.

You would be working in pairs so I personally wouldn't want some dude I didn't know working on my stuff.

If you ARE able to bring in your own trans then I would just pay the $400 so I could work alone

I have a coan t-flite that was just freshed before I bought it but it has been sitting 8 years. I would love to go thru it myself just to make sure it is OK before I install it.

Sounds like this class will teach me everything I need to know to do this..

John, Is it best to call or PM you for more info?

I think is a great idea!!
To see hands on how to build a trans would be great. I have done a few but only by using books and some coaching by a friend.
I will certainly schedule a class!!

I also suspect the mod may have been being sarcastic!!

Johns 1 of the best around! The knowledge you would receive is well worth more than 200.00.

Hey can we bring our own transmissions? This way, we can buy your kits/parts, assemble our personal transmissions, and do some home testing

no. How else is he going to build up his inventory of fresh, ready to go 727s?

this is genius! instead of him paying employees to work, he's tricked you all into paying him to work FOR him!

Are you kidding me ? I am not trying to trick any one. You think I would try to sell units build by students ?

I thought those comments were pretty low too. Seems some people like to make comments to start controversy.

wow guys. I was joking! I kinda thought that was obvious, but maybe it wasn't. I got no beef with CRT, and have no reason to say anything bad about them.

I was not trying to start controversy, just trying to inject a little humor.

Lesson learned: Humor is not appreciated in the race forum.

My apologies to all that I have offended.

yea. apparently!

Heck, John probably doesn't remember it...or realize that it was me, but back in 2004, right after Gary died, they were at the Mopar show in Denver at Bandimere. They were doing a charity drive for Gary's wife, I walked over and gave them a $50 donation. (not a huge sum of money, but it was all I could muster up as a poor college kid)

(At least I'm pretty sure it was CRT I know it was a transmission vendor from Moparts...who else is there?)

Like I said, I got no beef with John.

As far as being "unknown", I know I'm not a dedicated racer who goes to the track every weekend, but I also don't introduce myself in person as "Hi, I'm 70Cuda383 from Moparts, you know, the Mod?" Just a simple "Hi, I'm Tom"

Maybe I should change how I introduce myself at shows and swap meets?

If this class was in Texas, I would sure as heck attend! 200 bucks is cheap for that kind of knowledge. Mr. Cope has ALWAYS been nothing short of professional and helpful to me, even if I just needed a little tech help. Too bad he ain't in Texas.
