bucky ran an 8.46,, though i thought you ran an 8.43 at atco last year.

i have one run on the car now that it left the line ok,, not spinning like the first run at norwalk, or pushing through the lights because the two step was at 4400 and there was only a single rear caliper on the back,, with my leg bent as much as it was/is, being about a foot taller than jerry i couldnt get the leverage on the pedal like jerry could. i ran an 8.95 at 146.5 or so,, i know the motor in the car is down,, thast not my best effort,, i didnt really car,, i just want to get comfortable in the car and drive it a little. i wanted to get a comparison to see how far i was away from charlie for mph so i knew how much i needed to pick up,, but he spun so he was down mph, and i still had a few issues that i didnt catch till i got home saturday, though that motor, in its current configuration is still about 6mph down from charlie, no big deal to me at this point indy is 3 months away. ill have a better motor in it for the chicago race, though probably not up to charlie's mark, but closer.

i didnt goto columbus because i have way to much work to do at my shop. i havent spent any real time on my hemi stuff because of it i just needed a running engine to go get my grade pooints and get comfortable driving the car.

Ah Bucky, I only meant compared to the cars at the Norwalk race. I know there are a lot of hitters in that class. That's why it makes it so much fun for us fans. It's close to the way drag racing used to be and for that we are all grateful. Btw, Joe Tueton introduced himself last month at the Chrysler Classic race in Bowling Green while we were in the staging lanes. What a super guy he is. Had nothing but great things to say about you and the Cuda. The car was was looking and running awesome.

I had a chrysler engineer at vegas tell me (based on the speed diff from my dads stick car to mine) that it takes 13 hp per mph. He was hangin with Tom Hoover, dont remember his name.

Just curious on how that engineer came up with that number. 156x13= 2028hp? 156/13= 12hp?

Hard to say what the hp diff would be. The faster you go the harder it is to gain a mph, while pushing a brick. I know Charlie has more HP then the rest, but him and his Dad also have a big thing figured out on these cars, and that is the ability to make the cars 60'. That is gained by taking the cars out alot, and testing them. Seems Jr. and Sr. are always testing. You learn from trial and error.

On a side not, my buddy has been collecting alot of parts for his AH car lately. It will be off to the chassis shop next Saturday. I'll take some pics when I can. ALot of good parts going into the chassis.

The increase in horse power needed to gain velocity is a exponential curve, a funtion of velocity squared. Simply put to gain 10 mph from 100 to 110 needs way less power than it takes to gain 10 from 150 to 160. There is no set broad formula as the cars drag coefficient needs to be known. All cars have a different CD.

The weight of the vehicle is really a small issue when compared to the aero forces. In high gear the car is accelerating at a relatively slow rate. Punching a hole through the air becomes the greater combating force.
