I have a 1973 318/904 setup. I recently changed to a 4bbl carb and dual plane intake. Since then, the transmission has not been shifting correctly. I know some of you have done this before so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

your carb linkage is in a different position from the 2 bbl.
You might need to modify or get another piece, it will need to be longer. I used one from a 6 cyl. but others have just modified the origanal piece. I am sure others will chime in with many ways to remedy this. This linkage controls the line pressure in the tranny. The main thing is to get it right or the transmission will burn out.
Ask me how I know?

I did the same thing (4bbl/dual plane intake). On mine, I had to lengthen the rod that goes to the throttle.

Basically, you want it so at WOT, the kickdown/Throttle position rod is almost all the way back (saw ~1/16" play here somewhere).

Then adjust it forward/back to get the shifts where you like them.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Thanks for the help. Would anyone happen to have any pictures of their setup?

if originality isn't a big thing, get a bouchlion throttle cable kit,it's like 100.00(can't remember)put it in per instructions and it will work like a champ, not kicking lokar but some members here didn't care for them.good luck

To make the transmission shift right, you have to make sure that kickdown arm on the trans is all the way toward the front of the car when the throttle is at idle. This way as soon as you push the throttle open, it moves the rod or cable thats hooked to the kickdown lever. You adjust it this way and the pressure will always be right on the transmission for shifting.
